Game Boy Player - Frequently Asked Questions
- Does the Game Boy Player use Progressive
Scan?
Yes, the Start-up Disc supports the Nintendo GameCube's Progressive
Scan feature. However, since the Game Boy games are not optimized
to display in Progressive Scan, most players will see little or
no difference. For more information on Progressive Scan, click
here.
- Can we play split-screen multiplayer
games?
In order to play multiplayer games, each player must have their
own Game Boy Advance or Game Boy Advance SP properly linked up to
the Game Boy Player. Think of the Game Boy Player as simply a Game
Boy Advance system with a TV screen instead of a the normal LCD.
Each player must have their own system. For more information on
linking Game Boy Advances to a Game Boy Player, please click
here.
- Is the Game Boy Player compatible with
Game Boy Accessories?
Yes. The Game Boy Player is compatible with all of the same accessories
that the Game Boy Advance is, such as the Nintendo e-Reader. The
use of some accessories, such as the Game Boy Camera, may not be
practical due to the position of the Game Boy Player.
- Does the Game Boy Player work with game
paks with special features, like rumble pak, infrared, or tilt sensors?
- The rumble feature game paks will fit, though
the Nintendo GameCube may be uneven. The rumble feature itself
should be disabled by either turning the feature off in game's
options or by removing the battery.
- The infrared feature is not available, due
to the lack of an infrared port on the Game Boy Player.
- Due to the way the tilt sensor works, it
is impractical to play Kirby's Tilt and Tumble, or Wario Ware: Twisted.
- Can I remove the Game Boy Player
once I have attached it?
Yes, simply unscrew the two screws on the bottom of the Game Boy
Player, by twisting them counter-clockwise using a flat-bladed screwdriver
or a coin. Be sure to re-attach the High Speed Port cover you removed
earlier when you first attached the Game Boy Player.
- Do I have to have a Game Boy system
to use the Game Boy Player?
Unless you would like to play multiplayer games, there is no need
to have a Game Boy system of any kind in order to use the Game Boy
Player to play Game Boy games on your TV screen.
- Can I save progress from my Game Boy
games onto a Nintendo GameCube Memory Card?
Game Boy games currently available are not designed with the Game
Boy Player in mind, and cannot save the data to the Memory Card.
- Does the Game Boy Player allow
me to transfer data between Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance
games (such as Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion)?
The Game Boy Player is not setup to enable transferring of data
between these two types of games. In order to transfer data between
Nintendo GameCube games and Game Boy Advance games, you will still
need to have a Game Boy Advance system and a Nintendo GameCube Game
Boy Advance Link Cable. For more information on this feature, please

- Is the Game Boy Player
compatible with the Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter?
