Link Cable Selector Tool

With your Game Boy system, you must choose between four different cables when using the multiplayer feature of a game:

  • Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable (where to buy)
  • Game Boy micro Game Link Cable and Converter Connector (where to buy)
  • Universal Game Link Cable (discontinued -- click here for tips on locating this item)
  • Game Link Cable (discontinued -- click here for tips on locating this item)

Which one you use is dependant upon the type of game you are playing and which systems you are connecting. Please use the following tool to help you decide which cable to use.

Once you have selected the systems and game types you wish to connect, the link cable you should be using will be listed. If available, you will also be given a link to the hookup instructions that can get you started.

Special notes:

  • Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite: The Nintendo DS uses wireless technology to play DS Game Cards in multiplayer mode. While the Nintendo DS can play Game Boy Advance games in single player mode, the DS does not have a port or other circuitry for a link cable, thus it is not possible to play Game Boy Advance games in simultaneous multiplayer mode on the DS.
  • Game Boy micro: The Game Boy micro requires the use of the Game Boy micro Link Cable to connect to additional Game Boy micro systems. To connect to Game Boy Advance systems, an additional accessory called the Game Boy micro Converter Cable is required.
